Setting new habits allows you to challenge yourself and evolve. To become a better version of yourself, this is especially true when it comes to personal development goals . I also think that there is something very encouraging in achieving a goal thanks to a new ritual. It motivates us to do more, and it stimulates our determination. Therefore, I have set myself some good habits to adopt for the body and the mind, which I would like to share with you. To inspire you, give you ideas, or other things. And I also include some links to books that I enjoyed.
Read a book on personal development
I make sure to buy one every month and read it quietly when I have time. I usually read the most while commuting. Every piece of advice and idea can help us become a better version of ourselves. It’s also a real source of inspiration. Sometimes you finish a book with a new mindset and new projects. It gives you the determination to change things, and that’s why I find them very useful.
Avoid screens after work
We’re part of a generation that spends almost all day in front of a screen. And it’s a huge waste of time (unless it’s for education, like now ). Depending on our jobs, we’re already in front of computers all day, so we might as well put that aside once we get home. Not only is it bad for your eyes, but there are plenty of things to do that don’t involve a screen. Now’s the time to develop a new hobby. Something you love to do but have been stopping due to a lack of time. Drawing? Writing? Reading? Playing an instrument?
Keep a journal
Keeping a journal can be done in a variety of ways. For example, you can use it to write down what happens in your life each day. How do you feel, etc. Or, you can use a notebook to express your appreciation and gratitude. It’s something that helps you focus on the positive and avoid thinking about the negative . I discovered the Five Minute Journal because I follow Mimi Ikonn on Instagram (one of the founders of this little journal). And I thought the idea was absolutely brilliant. Taking 5 minutes each day to write down what makes us happy allows us to cultivate true positivity. And I noticed that it was also a way to realize what we have. Because we tend to think that everything around us is normal when, in fact, it is not.
Get rid of the unnecessary
Tidying up your apartment/office/room and sorting through clutter will help you see things more clearly. You may not realize it, but all the clutter around you has an impact on your mental state. Because subconsciously, decluttering your space is decluttering your mind. I read the book The Magic of Tidying Up after reading an article by my friend Marine from the blog deuxaimes and I really enjoyed it. We learn why it’s important to get rid of everything that clutters us physically and how much of an impact it can have on our mental health. In short, an essential book for people who hoard!
Learn something new
Whether it’s learning a new recipe, a skill like cycling or dancing, or learning a new language… There are a multitude of things you can do to stimulate your mind and creativity.
Enjoy the present moment
No multitasking, no projecting, just a moment where you appreciate the current situation. A moment where you stop overthinking, where you let go. There is beauty in every moment, you just have to appreciate it. Learn to only take the positive from a situation.
Try a challenge
You can find all kinds of challenges online, whether it’s to change your physical or mental state. So, don’t hesitate to take on a 30-day challenge to become happier, for example. Or a 30-day yoga challenge. What matters is that you’re embarking on something good for you. And for your health. And doing it through a time-limited challenge helps you be more determined. It encourages you not to give up since you have a countdown. However, it seems that habits take 21 days to form, so if you stick with it, you can adopt them for the long term.
Give your body what it needs
Your body needs fiber, water, and protein. Give it what it needs. Drink plenty of water. Eat iron-rich foods to strengthen your hair and nails, etc. Our bodies are what stay with us throughout our lives, so we might as well make sure they’re as healthy as possible, right? Additionally, it will impact your energy and how you feel. The more you take care of yourself physically, the stronger you feel.
Create routines
Whether it’s a morning routine or an evening routine, having your own little rituals and habits will help you avoid stress. And ensure you don’t forget anything. So you need to establish something that works for you and is effective on a daily basis. When you establish your routine, also make sure that it is related to your projects and goals.
Boost your self-confidence
Taking care of our appearance helps us build our confidence. Enjoying a nice bath, cooking a healthy meal, getting a massage… There are different ways to treat yourself that will make you feel better . Think about yourself, your skin, anything that can help boost your self-esteem and do it.
In conclusion, I hope I can maintain all these good habits. Because, let’s face it, the hardest part is making them a well-established routine. But if you want to improve your physical or mental performance, there’s no secret. You have to act long-term and set goals. I hope you liked my action plan of small rituals to adopt for the body and mind, and that it made you want to get started.
